I LOVE COFFEE, BUT IT DOESN'T LOVE ME. SO I CREATED DECOF.

I've always really enjoyed the taste of coffee, especially after a meal. But even a small coffee at lunchtime has me staring at the ceiling at bedtime, just waiting and waiting for sleep. At the same time I saw friends and family have to give up coffee for health reasons, and not enjoy it.

I eventually gave up too, and started only drinking decaf. But decaf coffees are just a bit...meh.

I remembered a drink I loved when I was a kid visiting my German grandmother, which was based on barley. And once I had my eye in for it I kept seeing Orzo (barley coffee) on holiday in Italy. They were good starts, but they weren't close enough to coffee for my liking and there was never any variety, just one option.

So, I set out to develop a completely caffeine free coffee alternative with different roast profiles, using only natural wholefoods that we can grow here in the UK. With the help of a lovely local chef called Morag, we went through almost a year of iterations before finalising our recipes for a light, medium-dark, and dark roast.

Now I make Decof on our farm in Scotland, using as many British ingredients as possible Eventually, I'd like to use only local ingredients, with most from our own farm. But at the moment there are a few which we don't seem to grow here in the UK (like liquorice and chicory root). Hopefully we can change that.
